Areas of responsability for EARS
Hardware maintenance. This includes the EARS server (in front office) and the EPROMS (memory chips) in the folders. It does not include the folders themselves or the RTU units installed around the college. An engineer from BROMCOM should be taking care of those items.
Software maintenance. This includes the Novell multiuser DOS operating system and the EARS specific software, but only to the extent not covered by the support contract with BROMCOM. This is due to the licence agreement with the company, which specifies that if the original software is modified in any way, additional support will not be provided. Software maintenance also includes the basic configuration of folders.
Overall technical advice, in subjects such as upgrades, Year 2000 issues, competitor products and any other matter concerning the smooth function of the system from a technical point of view.
And, finally, any other areas agreed by the EARS team
