Spare Parts

We carry a small amount of parts for the older Stone Workstations (psu's, Hdd, Floppys) on the shelf (blue tub) in the IS Office. To enable us to do in-house repairs without the need to make a voucher call for the out of warranty PC's.

Warranty Calls

  • For Workstations currently Under 3/4 years old.

All new workstations purchased from Summer 2005 onward have a 4 Year warranty, any purchased before this date will have a 3 year warranty.

There is a list on the IS Intranet of serial numbers and whether they are in warranty or not.

Ex-Warranty (Voucher) Calls

For workstations out of warranty we havea limited amount of vouchers to use for call outs, these cover the cost of an engineer call out and any parts needed.

Reporting Procedure

For reporting of warranty faults, use the apropritate link from the intranet, in the administration section.

Before reporting:

  1. Floppy drives, please check that no foriegn objects have been placed in the drive.
  2. Other faults...

We have a copy of PC-Check, please use this before reporting a fault (if it is not obvious) as this will help the engineer bring the correct parts.

The Warranty fault Form

You will need the serial number of the pc and also the name (for easy reference).

  • The site contact will be : Martin Bentley.
  • Email Address: support@varndean.ac.uk

Please fill in all fields on the form as this helps Stone process the fault quickly.

Once the fault has been processed, Stone will email you (support) with the call refrence id, write the call refrence id on the Large whiteboard at the back of the IS Office, along with a brief description of the fault. So when the engineer comes, he can be directed to the right location quickly.

VOUCHER CALLS FORM

Please pass on any details of out of warranty faults (fault, Serial Number, etc) to Martin (mlb@varndean.ac.uk) who will check to see if we can use a voucher (we have a very limited ammount) and then report the fault to Stone.
