Restart Print Spooler

Views:

Restarting the Print Spooler can help to reinstate printer drivers in windows, amoungst other things. This is assuming that you have already checked that the workstation is associated to the Printer Policy Object for the printer in question.

  1. Log in to the workstation as your installer
  2. Run command prompt
  3. Type "Net stop spooler" (a message will appear telling you that the spooler service has stopped)
  4. Type "Net start spooler" (a message will appear telling you that the service has started)
  5. Exit command prompt and go to "Printers" folder
  6. Check to see if the printer object has re-appeared
  7. If the object has re-appeared then no further action is necessary but if there is still no object then follow the usual steps to install the appropriate printer
