Remote scan

Notes for troubleshooting and installing remote scan (used in rooms 26 and 30)
Software can be found in T:\techfiles\Software\workstation\Remote-scan. Once you have installed the server software you will need to activate it. See below on how to do this.
Server setup
under the server options (right click icon in taskbar) the following should be set:
- server broadcasting should be off
- under the ip addresses section select allow and then enter the ip address ranges for that room (e.g. 10.10.30.1-10.10.30.7), * does not work
- make sure that the server is password protected. This should be 'room26scanner' for room 26 and 'room30scanner' for room 30. Any other rooms should follow this syntax for simplicity.
To activate the server
- right click the server icon in the taskbar
- click register
- don't click on the button to register itself, it doesnt work (firewall rules) click on the link just below it.
- A web page should then load, the user names and passwords can be found in the remote-scan directory in a txt file
- once logged in, at the top of the page is a veiw generate key link, you'll find the key here, copy the key and paste it into the box in the registraion dialog for the server
Additional notes:
- for room 26 only the older machines are able to access the scan server, the license wont allow for any of the new machines
If you need anymore info let me know (DHH) and i'll put what info you need on here!
Client setup
When installing clients the following needs to be done:
- Once installed load Photoshop (or any other programs that use the scanner)
- go to import and then remote scan
- by the drag down box for server (at the top of the dialog) click the add button
- in in the server box enter the IP address for the remote scan server
- select save
MAKESURE THAT YOU TEST THE SERVER CONNECTION!! remote scan will prompt you for the scanner password [see above]
What to do when the server doesnt work
- try restarting the server, this normally solves the problem
- if the server is saying that too many clients have tried to access it, the best way (after much experimentation) is to reinstall the server. For some reason unless you do this it doesnt time the old connections/clients out. If this fails re-image teh machine and done with, it'll make things much simpler
IF YOU CANT GET IT WORKING
Let me know and i'll sort it out and post some notes up for when it happens again!
