AB Tutor Controls

ABTC is a remote control piece of software designed to allow teachers to manage student workstations during lessons, it's pretty kick arse- I'd imagine teachers will have a lot of fun tormenting reprobate students with this- "NO more flash games for you little boy!" etc.

It consists of two parts, the teacher portion and the student machine portion. I've created pushes for both.

In order to connect to a student machine, passwords on both the student and teacher portions must match.

The tutor application is installed on the data projector machine of each room unless stated and marked otherwise. The Tutor will need to enter the password of the particular room into ABTC- this will only allow access to the computers in said room.

The feature set is quite impressive and rather expansive so it'll be better to take a look at the above link for an up to date feature list.

Activating Licenses

Your account entitles you to install and run AB Tutor Control on 8 computers, and to install the client program on an unlimited number of computers in your organisation only.

To activate your licences:

1) Make sure that the machine has access to the Internet and that no firewalls or Internet protection software are blocking AB Tutor Control from accessing it. If your school or ISP runs an Internet filter (e.g. Smartfilter or Watchdog), you will need to ensure that the AB Tutor Control Tutor program is allowed to communicate freely to and from the Internet to www.abtutorcontrol.com. If you block traffic from www.abtutorcontrol.com, the software will not activate properly.

2) Launch AB Tutor Control. If the licence activation dialog box does not open automatically (which it will do upon expiry of the trial), go to Help, Licence Activation.

3) Enter your unique Account Serial Number in the appropriate box and a ‘friendly’ name for the computer – the computer name is selected by default

4) Click on ‘Activate’

Our quick start guide (http://www.abconsulting.com/html/ABQuickStartGuide.pdf) runs through the process of downloading, installing and activating AB Tutor Control in more detail. It also guides you through the steps involved in setting passwords.

this is used to gain admin access to the tutor program and is also the connection password that must be the same on both client and tutor machines
